Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Scriptorian mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
Description of Service
Scriptorian is a scripture memorization application that helps users memorize and review scripture passages through spaced repetition and interactive exercises. The App is provided by Scriptorian Ltd Co ("we," "our," or "us").
Use of the App
You may use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App's systems or networks
- Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the App
- Use the App's social features (groups, messaging) to harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate others
- Post content that is profane, sexually explicit, hateful, or deliberately offensive to religious beliefs
- Use the App to spam, advertise, or distribute unsolicited content
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
- Circumvent or attempt to bypass content moderation or safety measures
Community Guidelines
All users participating in group features are expected to follow our Community Guidelines. These guidelines describe the standards of behavior expected in groups and chat. Violation of the Community Guidelines may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent banning of your account's social features.
Scripture Content
The scripture passages included in the App are sourced from publicly available religious texts. The inclusion of these texts is intended for educational and personal study purposes. Scriptorian Ltd Co does not claim ownership of the underlying scripture content.
User-Generated Content
By posting messages, uploading profile images, or sharing other content through the App's group features, you grant Scriptorian Ltd Co a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, and distribute that content to other group members as part of the App's functionality. You retain ownership of your content but are responsible for ensuring it complies with these Terms and our Community Guidelines.
We reserve the right to remove any user-generated content that violates these Terms, without prior notice.
Account Suspension and Bans
We may warn, suspend, or ban your account from social features (group participation, messaging, group creation, image uploads, and administrative roles) if you violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines. Enforcement actions include:
- Warning: A formal notice delivered through the App. Warnings are recorded on your account.
- Temporary suspension: A time-limited restriction on social features.
- Permanent ban: A permanent restriction on social features. You will retain access to solo features (scripture memorization, practice, and collections).
If you are banned while serving as a group leader, leadership of your group(s) will be automatically transferred to the next eligible member. You will be removed from all groups. This applies regardless of whether the group is associated with a paid feature.
If you believe an enforcement action was made in error, you may submit an appeal through the App. Appeals are reviewed and responded to within the App.
Paid Features
Certain features, such as hosting a private group, may require a paid subscription. Payment is processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and is subject to their respective terms. If your account is banned from social features, you retain the paid feature entitlement for the duration of your subscription. Once unbanned, you may use the paid feature again. Refund requests should be directed to the respective app store.
User Data
Data you create within the App (collections, practice history, goals, and preferences) is stored on your device and, if you opt in, may be synced to our servers to enable features like cloud backup and group memorization. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for complete details on data handling.
Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, user interface, graphics, and original content (excluding scripture text), is the property of Scriptorian Ltd Co and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or brand features.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the App is at your own risk.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scriptorian Ltd Co shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.
Changes to the App
We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue the App at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
