What is Scriptorian?

Scriptorian is a mobile app designed to help you memorize scripture passages using spaced repetition and interactive exercises. It is available for iOS and Android devices.

How does spaced repetition work?

Spaced repetition is a scientifically-backed learning technique. Instead of reviewing all your passages every day, the app schedules reviews at increasing intervals based on how well you know each passage. Passages you struggle with appear more frequently, while passages you've mastered are reviewed less often. This keeps your daily review workload manageable even as your collection grows.

Is my data private?

What scripture content is included?

Scriptorian is built for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and includes the standard works: the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. The app also includes curated collections such as Doctrinal Mastery passages, Preach My Gospel lesson passages, and selected Proclamations. You can browse and select individual verses or groups of verses to add to your memorization library, or start with one of the built-in collections.

What types of exercises are available?

The app includes multiple practice modes to reinforce your memory from different angles:

• Guess Text — Recall the text of a passage from its reference, with multi-choice or first-letter input modes
• Guess Reference — Identify the correct reference for a given passage
• Flashcards — Quick review of passage text and references
• Beginning Phrase — Complete a passage from its opening words
• Fortify — Targeted practice to strengthen weak areas

Can I set memorization goals?

Yes. You can set a goal to memorize a specific number of passages by a target date. The app will automatically pace your progress, scheduling one new passage per day to keep you on track toward your deadline.

What happens if I delete the app?

Uninstalling the app will delete the data stored on your device, including your progress, collections, and settings. We recommend completing any active goals before uninstalling.

How do I report a bug?

If you encounter a bug or unexpected behavior, please email us at admin@scriptorian.app with a description of what happened, what you expected to happen, and your device model and operating system version. This helps us investigate and fix the issue.
