Our Mission

Scriptorian is a community built around scripture study, memorization, and spiritual growth. Every person who uses Scriptorian should feel safe, respected, and uplifted. These guidelines exist to protect that environment.

By participating in groups, messaging, or any social feature within Scriptorian, you agree to follow these guidelines.

Be Respectful

  • Treat every member with kindness and respect, even when you disagree
  • Encourage and uplift others in their scripture study journey
  • Respect the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of fellow members
  • Be patient with those who are new to scripture memorization

Prohibited Content

The following content is not allowed in messages, profile images, display names, group names, or any other user-generated content:

Profanity and Crude Language

Do not use profane, vulgar, or crude language. Messages containing prohibited language will be automatically blocked.

Hateful or Discriminatory Content

Do not post content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic. This includes slurs, derogatory terms, and coded language intended to demean.

Sexual Content

Do not post sexually explicit or suggestive content of any kind, including in messages, profile pictures, or group images.

Harassment and Bullying

Do not harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users. This includes repeated unwanted contact, personal attacks, doxxing (sharing someone's private information), and targeted mockery.

Trolling and Bad Faith Participation

Scriptorian is a faith-centered app. Do not join groups or participate in conversations with the intent to mock, ridicule, or undermine the sincere religious beliefs of other users. Respectful questions and discussion are welcome; deliberate provocation is not.

Spam and Solicitation

Do not use groups or messaging to send spam, advertisements, solicitations, or promotional content unrelated to scripture study.

Impersonation

Do not impersonate another person, church leader, or public figure through your display name, profile picture, or messages.

Profile Images and Group Images

Profile pictures and group images must be appropriate for all audiences. Do not upload images that contain nudity, violence, profanity, hate symbols, or other prohibited content. Inappropriate images will be removed and may result in account action.

Group Leader Responsibilities

If you lead or administer a group, you have additional responsibilities:

  • Set a positive tone for your group and model respectful behavior
  • Use the mute and removal tools to address members who violate these guidelines
  • Report serious violations to Scriptorian using the in-app reporting tools
  • Do not use your administrative privileges to harass, silence, or unfairly target members

Reporting Violations

If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines:

  • Report a message: Long-press the message and select "Report"
  • Report a user: Use the report option on their profile within the group
  • Block a user: Block them from your profile to stop seeing their messages

All reports are reviewed by the Scriptorian team. You will be notified of the outcome through the App.

Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines are addressed based on severity and frequency:

  • First offense (minor): A warning delivered through the App explaining the violation
  • Repeated or moderate offenses: Temporary suspension of social features (messaging, group participation, group creation, image uploads)
  • Severe or continued offenses: Permanent ban from social features

Automatic moderation may temporarily restrict your account if multiple users report you, pending review by our team.

Banned users retain access to solo features (scripture memorization, practice, and personal collections). If you are a group leader and your account is banned, leadership of your groups will be transferred to the next eligible member.

Appeals

If you believe an enforcement action was made in error, you may submit an appeal through the App. Appeals are reviewed by the Scriptorian team and you will receive a response through the App. We aim to respond to appeals promptly.

Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these guidelines from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of social features after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
